Tweet Tweet: Hotels on Twitter

June 29, 2009

twitterThe Twitter phenomenon has reached the hospitality industry. Hoteliers around the world are beginning to see the potential applications of Twitter – the current king of the social networking world. Most of the major global hotel brands have created a presence on Twitter, as have many individual hotels and their employees.

Some hoteliers even have their own Twitter handles, most prominently Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company CEO Simon Cooper, who tweets as http://twitter.com/simonfcooper.

Posting links to press releases and special room packages or discount codes are the most common uses of Twitter, but the creative companies are expanding their use.

A recent article in Hotels magazine examined some of the uses of Twitter among hoteliers. Current copies of Hotels magazine can be found on the periodicals shelf in the Nestlé Library or electronically through the library catalog.
